The State Performance Plan (SPP) and the Annual Performance Report (APR) are part of the overall system that Congress put in place under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure every state is held accountable for how it educates its students with disabilities. At least once a year, each state is required to gather input from a variety of special education stakeholders—parents of children with IEPs, teachers, administrators, service providers, advocates and community members—in preparation for submitting its report to the U.S. Department of Education in February on how well the state met its targets for 17 important indicators related to student success.
This year’s State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR) Stakeholder Engagement Meeting will be held virtually via Zoom on Friday, December 8th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and co-hosted by the Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) and the Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE). Any and all interested stakeholders are invited to participate by filling out this registration form! The form asks participants to choose their first and second preference in discussion groups from the list below. Each group will review data gathered on specific indicators, comment on improvement activities and review targets for improvement.
