When thinking about where your child who is deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind will attend school, it can be a little overwhelming. Talk to your IEP team and ask to visit the different programs available on your island.

This is not a “be-all-end-all” list of family supports. If you have a favorite family-friendly organization that would be helpful to families, please email SPIN at spin@doh.hawaii.gov.
- AG Bell – Information and support for families who choose listening and spoken language for their child.
- American Society for Deaf Children – supporting families who choose to use American Sign Language
- Cochlear Implants – basic info about CI from Kids Health.
- Comprehensive Services Center Hawaii – supporting families and individuals across the state. They have parent to parent connections and play date activities as well as sign language classes for all levels.
- Gallaudet University in Washington DC – has great resources and information for families of young children.
- Hands & Voices National – supports and information for families regardless of hearing loss, technology usage, school placement or language modality.
- Hands & Voices Hawaii Facebook Page – supporting families in Hawaii.
- Hawaii School for the Deaf and blind – a public school on Oahu that offers boarding for neighbor island students.
- National Association of the Deaf (NAD) – a civil rights organization for people who are deaf/hard of hearing
- National Cued Speech Association – information on using cued speech as a language choice.
- Signing Time – easy and fun sign language instruction for young children and their families.
